About the Soo Indians

Our Mission:

The Soo Indians are committed to developing players and helping them advance Junior and College Hockey. Our program provides the structure, coaching, and exposure needed for players serious about reaching the next level.

The Soo Indians AAA Hockey program is an elite youth hockey organization based in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, dedicated to developing high-level players both on and off the ice. Competing at the Tier I AAA level, the Soo Indians provide young athletes with the opportunity to train, compete, and grow in one of the most competitive environments in amateur hockey.

Built on a foundation of hard work, discipline, and community pride, the program focuses on teaching the advanced skills and hockey IQ needed to succeed at the next level. Through experienced coaching, structured development, and high-level competition, the Soo Indians help players prepare for junior, collegiate, and professional hockey opportunities.

Located in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the Soo Indians represent a region with a deep and passionate hockey tradition. The program brings together talented players from across the Midwest and beyond, fostering teamwork, leadership, and a commitment to excellence both on the ice and in the community.

Today, the Soo Indians continue to build on that tradition by developing the next generation of hockey talent while proudly representing Sault Ste. Marie and the rich hockey culture of Northern Michigan.

Delevopmental Structure

Elite Practice Schedule

  • Players participate in three (3) team practices per week, each lasting 1.5 hours. Practices are designed to focus on skill progression, team systems, and high-tempo competitive drills that mirror game situations.
     

Additional Ice for Skill Development

  • Players also have access to additional weekday ice sessions, providing opportunities for extra skill work, position-specific training, and individual development.
     

Strength & Conditioning Facility

  • Our program includes access to an on-site workout and strength training facility, allowing athletes to build strength, speed, and conditioning under a structured development plan.
     

Professional Team Locker Room

  • Players enjoy a brand-new team locker room featuring individualized player stalls, creating a professional team environment and giving every player their own space within the program.
