The Soo Indians Hockey Club will open camp on August 29, 2010 at the Big Bear Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. This is the “official” start of the 2010-11 hockey season!

This season will be the first time in many years that the Indians will be playing at the Big Bear Arena, where their success began in the 1990s and early 2000. During this time you saw players like Ryan Miller (Buffalo Sabres), Scott Parse (LA Kings), and Ray Kaunisto (LA Kings) as the most notable players on the ice while coaches like Joe Shawhan (Northern Michigan) and Rick Corbiere (Soo Indians) led the teams from behind the bench.

The 29th will provide an opportunity for players to tour their new facilities as well as their new state-of-art dressing room complete with training room, equipment room, etc. It will also provide the players and their families an opportunity to get to meet and mingle with the personnel behind the organization of the Indians.

Most importantly, though, this is the time that the players actually register to play hockey with the Soo Indians, Northern Lakes Hockey League (NLHL), Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) and USA Hockey. It is vitally important that players bring all their document with them, including fees, to make this process go smoothly.

Players are asked to report to the arena at 1pm. Lunch will be served at about 3pm (or sooner depending on the registration progress) and should end about 4 pm.

If you have any questions about what you need for registration, contact Bonnie Kaunisto at 906-632-3845 or bonnie.kaunisto@sooindianshockey.com.

Don’t wait until the last minute! :)
